Today we covered the inspiring football camp that has been traveling around the country thanks to the NFL's first female football coach Jen Welter. She is dedicated to expanding football opportunities to girls. This was her camp in Houston and we were so thrilled to see how many girls and boys came out to attend. It was truly amazing to watch.
This past Saturday, the IFAF European Championships of Women's American Football came to a close with Finland taking home the trophy. The Brick House team was there documenting the tournament and talking to women who are playing full tackle football across the pond. It's spectacular to see this sport growing across the globe. Congratulations to the other teams in the tournament: Great Britain, Sweden, and Austria. And thank you to the IFAF for having us in Leeds.
That's a wrap on principal photography for Brick House. The reunion was so amazing. We coulnd't have asked for better. Harold's Restaurant and Taprooom was so accomodating and we can't say thank you enough for having us. Everyone came. There were hugs, tears, and stories. It was one of the most memorable events of my life.
I came into this project saying, I want the Astrodome. Today, we got it! Thank you to our amazing producer Lisa France, our increadible sponsor Alli Jarret, and our fantastic NRG contact Adrian Collins. The shoot today was all about Anita Martini. The first woman sportscaster allowed in a major league men's lockers room. The Astrodome was her cathedral and we were so happy to be able to pay homage to her at that location with her sister Cathy Arellano, fellow reporters Barry Warner and Kenny Hand, and former Oilers' QB Dan Pastorini.
Coming to you from Houston, TX! Today is the first day of filming. We have a great lineup of players that we will be interviewing over the next few weeks. This is very exciting and we can't wait to hear everyone's stories. Our final day of filming will be a 40 year reunion for the team. We have an amazing sponsor Alli Jarrett from Harold's Restaurand and Taproom in the Heights. Thank you Alli for becoming a part of this project!
We are thrilled to announce that our IndieGoGo campaign has ended with total funds raised amounting to $35,000. This is spectacular and we are so grateful to every single person who donated. Thank you a million times. This is a huge milestone as we are now officially a go for principal photography. Olivia and a small crew will be travelling to Texas to interview some of the original Houston Herricanes. Stay tuned for more updates!
At last, we are in full blown fundraising mode. If you haven't checked out our IndieGoGo page yet, please do so HERE. We are very excited to share this film with you and hope that you can find a way to support us. Whether you can offer a contribution or simply share our story with the world, we will cherish any help we can get
We have been working on this film for months now: researching, interviewing, and planning. As we gear up to start our crowdfunding campaign we have officially started our social media sites and, as you can see, our brand new website! If you would like to keep up with our progress, follow us on Facebook or Instagram. We are very excited to get this project off the ground and dive full on into the world of women's football.
